How to style a back-print graphic T-shirt

A back-print T-shirt brings detail to a simple outfit. With Oakenford’s smaller front logo and larger back artwork, you can keep the rest of what you wear straightforward and let the graphic stand out.

What is a back-print T-shirt?

A back-print T-shirt places its main graphic on the back of the garment. On Oakenford’s illustrated tees, this is paired with a smaller front logo. Check both views in the product gallery to see how the design looks from each side.

Start with an everyday outfit

In the photograph above, Stone Current in white is paired with tan trousers, white trainers and a cap. The neutral outfit gives the coastal colours and circular back artwork room to stand out.

You do not need to match every colour in the print. Try black, charcoal or indigo trousers if you prefer to keep the rest of the outfit plain.

Pair a white tee with stone or olive

White tees work well with muted trousers: try stone chinos, olive cargos or washed denim. These colours sit comfortably beside landscape artwork without competing with it. Browse our nature and landscape graphic T-shirts for mountain, coastal and botanical artwork.

The Overlook is a useful example. The white garment frames the blue and green landscape, while the neutral trousers keep the outfit simple. Start with colours you already own rather than buying a completely new outfit around a tee. For more illustrated adventure scenery, explore the Retro Game landscape T-shirts.

Use one colour from the artwork

If you want more colour, pick a single muted shade from the graphic for a cap, overshirt or trousers. An olive layer can echo a forest scene; a stone overshirt can work alongside coastal artwork. Keeping the remaining pieces plain makes the combination easier to wear.

Balance the fit

Our standard tee has a relaxed unisex fit. Straight-leg jeans or relaxed chinos are a natural starting point. If you prefer narrower trousers, check that the tee's length still feels balanced on you.

Sizing up changes the length as well as the width, so compare measurements before choosing a looser fit. Our size guide explains how to measure a tee you already wear.

Add a layer when you need one

An open overshirt works with the small front logo. Leave enough room through the shoulders and sleeves for the tee to sit comfortably underneath.
